For so long now many Ugandans still believe that Toyota is the only car brand one should own or drive. To some, they don’t even want to hear anything other than Toyota, because the assumption is that they are affordable, easy to maintain, readily available spare parts, etc.
Toyota is a car brand made in Japan, just like many other car brands including Subaru, Suzuki, Honda, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Nissan, Mazda, and many others. All these car brands follow specific standards, so each is verified to ensure they meet the expected quality.
There are also many other car brands from different countries i.e.
Peugeot, Renault, Citron from France.
Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen from Germany.
Volvo from Sweden.
Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet, Jeep from USA.
and Hyundai, KIA from South Korea.
Allow me to encourage you that all these car brands mentioned above are good, tested, and fit to serve your interests. Each of these car brands has a unique feature(s) that makes it stand out or have an edge over the other. (details to come later)
Each one of us has a specific car of interest or a dream car or love for a specific brand. Do not lose track of your dream car or love for a particular car over fallacies.
Ugandans have embraced buying used cars but unfortunately, we pay less attention to “how used should the car I am going to buy be?”
We tend to leave all the tasks to the car dealers/brokers – to make car assessments and choices on our behalf. In the short run, it is upon us to meet the extra costs of car repairs. This can be avoided if you consult with www.sebanzhost.com before making that decision.
Other than levying high taxes on used cars, the government has also not done enough to help Ugandans from buying junk cars.
Food for Thought:
Many years ago when people had little knowledge about cars, few car mechanics in the country, and very few spare parts shops – our grandparents used to drive the most feared brands like Citron, Peugeot, Benz, Fiat, and TATA among others. How did they Manage?
